Melissa Booth

Melissa Booth's research focuses on ecology of microbes, including viruses, bacteria, archaea & microbialeukaryotes in marine and estuarine environments. She is interested in monitoring the influence ofenvironmental conditions on microbial gene expression to determine how ecosystem variables affect microbial carbon and nitrogen cycling and investigating the activity of viruses acrosssalinity and pH gradients. Additionally, she is interested in a comparison of freshwater, estuarine, coastal and pelagic microbial populations and functions to determine various regulatory mechanisms on population composition and overall population function.
